Zooey Deschanel shares her two kids with her ex-husband Jacob Pechenik. Although Deschanel and Pechenik split in 2019, the former couple remains on good terms as they continue to co-parent their two children together.

Deschanel and Pechenik welcomed their first child, a daughter named Elsie Otter, in late July 2015. Elsie was born in Austin, Texas, but her precise birth date is unknown. Charlie Wolf, the former couple’s son, was born in early May 2017 in Los Angeles, where Deschanel grew up.

Zooey Deschanel prefers to keep her children out of the spotlight, despite her A-list status. The mother of two rarely shares photos of her children, and when she does, she avoids showing their faces.

When asked whether or not her children will follow in her footsteps and pursue acting, Deschanel told Access: “It’s hard to say …. my son likes to make up dinosaur movies all the time and make up songs. My daughter does too, they both kind of like to make up stuff.”
