Ezekiel Tobechukwu “Zeke” Nnaji was born on January 9, 2001, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the United States to parents, Janel Nnaji and Alphan Nnaji. His father, Alphan, is from Nigeria, while his mother, Janel, is from Minnesota.

Zeke Nnaji has a younger sister, Maya, who is an athlete and a high school basketball recruit at Hopkins High School. Zeke Nnaji’s uncle, Obiora Nnaji has played centre at the University of Florida from 1997 to 1999.

Zeke Nnaji had initially played high school basketball for Lakeville North High School in Lakeville, Minnesota, however, he transferred to Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, Minnesota. He was ranked 22nd in his class as well as a five-star recruit by Rivals.

Zeke Nnaji committed to playing college basketball for the Arizona Wildcats at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. He was the first Arizona player to score 20 points and collect 10 rebounds in his first three games.

Zeke Nnaji was named first-team All-Pac-12 and Pac-12 Freshman of the Year following the end of the regular season and then declared for the 2020 NBA draft. He was selected with the 22nd pick in the 2020 NBA draft by the Denver Nuggets.
