Zambia legend Rainford Kalaba has been released from the University Teaching Hospital, as confirmed by the health facility.

Nzeba Chanda, the UTH-Adult Public Relations Officer, announced, “Mr. Rainford Kalaba has been discharged from the UTH-Adult, where he was hospitalized following a road traffic accident two weeks ago. Today marks exactly 14 days since his admission. He will continue his recovery at his family residence.”

The 37-year-old was riding as a passenger in a Mercedes Benz that collided with an approaching truck in the southeastern Zambian town of Kafue. At first believed to have passed away, Kalaba was subsequently taken to the hospital for medical care.

Kalaba, renowned for his illustrious club career mainly with TP Mazembe, achieved significant triumphs such as the CAF Champions League title in 2015 and the CAF Confederation Cup in 2016. Moreover, he had a spell playing in Portugal.
A key figure in the Chipolopolo squad, Kalaba played a crucial part in Zambia’s Africa Cup of Nations triumph in 2012 and has earned numerous trophies with TP Mazembe, including the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.
