Katorah Kasanova Marrero, better known by her stage name Young M.A (an acronym for Young Me. Always) was born on 3rd April 1992 in Brooklyn, East New York. Not much is known about her family background, however, her mother Latifa is Jamaican, and her father is of Puerto Rican descent.

Young M.A’s father was incarcerated when she was 1 year old and was not released until she was 11. She was raised alongside her brother, Kenneth Ramos. Her family later relocated to Chesterfield, Virginia when she was 7 years old. M.A and her family relocated to Brooklyn when she was 16 years old.
