YNW Melly Released, Release Date, Mom, Instagram, Trial

Jamell Maurice Demons, known professionally as YNW Melly, is an American rapper and singer.

YNW Melly is best known for his songs “Murder on My Mind”, “Mixed Personalities”, “Suicidal”, and “223’s” ” (featuring 9lokkNine).

The first is considered his breakout, which garnered him further attention after being charged with the double-murder of two fellow rappers in the “YNW” collective.

In November 2019, YNW Melly released his debut album, Melly vs. Melvin, peaking number 8 on the Billboard 200.

YNW Melly was born on May 1, 1999, in Gifford, Florida and was raised by his single mother, Jamie Demons-King.

YNM Melly’s mom Jamie Demons-King was 14 years old when she became pregnant with him, giving birth to him in ninth grade.

Later moving to a poorer part of Gifford, YNW Melly’s mother struggled to pay for housing and necessaries.

In late 2015, YNW Melly was arrested for shooting at a group of students near Vero Beach High School and subsequently convicted of aggravated battery, discharging a firearm in public, and two counts of aggravated assault, for which he served several months in prison.

Then again, YNW Melly was arrested and charged with double murder in February 2019.

This came after he was accused of shooting and murdering two other rappers, who were said to be his close friends, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in October 2018.

He has pleaded not guilty and his trial began on April 4th. YNW Melly is currently in custody at Broward County Jail in Florida, where he has been since 2019.

Whilst incarcerated, the rapper is still active on social media and he took to Twitter this week to claim that he could be getting released very soon.

YNW Melly, is facing a possible death sentence if convicted of the 2018 murders of friends and fellow musicians Anthony Williams, 21, and Christopher Thomas Jr., 19, in Miramar.

Jury selection is likely to run through most of May, if not all of it.

Most jurors summoned to the courthouse through the end of April and beginning of May will first be directed to the penalty phase trial of Parkland school shooter Nikolas Cruz.

However, only those excused from that case will be considered for other trials.

On Tuesday (April 18), YNW Melly took to his official Twitter to claim that he will be released from prison “this year”.

YNW Melly posted a photo of new photo of himself in the Broward County Jail and wrote:

“It’s bout that time 🥶 y’all can uncross y’all 🥜 i’ll be home this year 💙🌍.”

This isn’t the first time he’s hinted that he’ll be coming home soon though as in February, he wrote: “I’ll be home soon to give y’all all this new gas.”
