Yael Stone has two children. On 30 May 2018, their baby girl, Pemau Stone Bancroft, was born. In December 2022, Yael revealed she gave birth to a second child.

Yael Stone’s acting career commenced during her childhood, with notable roles in the film Me Myself I and the miniseries The Farm. However, it was in the world of theatre that she first garnered attention. At the 2008 Sydney Theatre Awards, Stone’s stellar performance in The Kid earned her the awards for Best Newcomer and Best Supporting Actress. Subsequently, she showcased her versatility in television with supporting roles in All Saints and Spirited.

Stone’s commitment to her craft reached new heights with her involvement in The Diary of a Madman, a theatrical adaptation of the Gogol short story, earning her another nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the Sydney Theatre Awards. Her talent extended beyond Australian borders when she joined the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s production of The Diary of a Madman in New York City.

Relocating to New York in 2011, Stone co-founded an experimental theatre company, embracing the city’s vibrant arts scene. Her big breakthrough, however, came with her portrayal of Lorna Morello in Orange Is the New Black. Stone’s portrayal of the Boston-accented prisoner captivated audiences and critics alike, establishing her as a series regular from the third season onwards.
