He enrolled at USC, where as a first-year recruit in 2017, he won the Rose Bowl. In general, the New York Jets selected the young player third overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. He was the NFL’s youngest season-opening quarterback since the merger of the AFL and NFL at the age of 21.
The 25-year-old athlete started out playing with the Jets in 2018 before being traded to the Panthers in 2021. On April 5, 2021, he was traded to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a 2021 sixth-round pick, a 2022 second-round pick, and a 2022 fourth-round pick.
