Canelo did not lose all his belts. However, he failed in his attempt to dethrone Dmitry Bivol of his WBA light-heavyweight title. Dmitry Bivol, the WBA light heavyweight champion, won a unanimous decision over Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 7 night. Bivol, who has held a version of his title since May 2016, handed Alvarez only his second loss.

Alvarez has only fought once at light heavyweight in his career, defeating Sergey Kovalev in late 2019. Canelo now has a 57-2-2 record after this loss. His last loss occurred in September of 2013. Between that loss, when he was 23 years old, and this weekend’s loss, he had won 15 games in a row and drawn one.

Meanwhile, Bivol has improved his record to 20 wins from 20 fights after this big win.

Bivol said after the win, “I’m glad I proved myself today, I’m the best in my division, and I keep this belt.” “What do you do if you don’t believe in yourself? You accomplish nothing. “I believe in myself, and my team believes in me ”

After the fight, Bivol stated that he was open to a rematch, so we may see these two fight again in the future.
