A Mexican singer Yrma Lydia who was 21 and just beginning her music career was shot Thursday, June 23 night at the Suntory Del Valle restaurant in the south of the city when she was attacked by her partner, 79-year-old Jesús Hernández Alcocer.

According to witnesses, Jesús Hernández Alcocer shot the singer, who turned out to be his wife, following an argument.
Alcocer attempted to bribe the police so that he could flee with one of his security guards, who was also apprehended. According to reports, Alcocer has already been charged with extortion.

Lydia had performed in several Grandiosas 12 performances in Mexico and the United States, which feature well-known Central and South American singers such as Mara Conchita Alonso and Dulce and Alicia Villareal.
Lydia’s debut studio album titled “God’s Gift” was released in 2015. She released “Talking” two years later, in 2017, as she began appearing on television and shows.
For her contributions to culture, she received the Senate’s National Culture Prize and the Chamber of Deputies’ Doctor Honoris Causa.
