Why was Roger Clemens not allowed in Hall of Fame?

Retired American professional baseball player Roger Clemens, has not been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame, despite his impressive career achievements.

The reason for this is largely due to the allegations of steroid use that have followed him throughout his career.

Roger Clemens was first eligible for induction into the Hall of Fame in 2013, but he received only 37.6% of the vote, well below the required 75% needed for induction. He never received the 75% of votes required in his ten years of eligibility, ending with 65.2% in 2022

The Baseball Writers’ Association of America, which is responsible for electing players to the Hall of Fame, has cited the allegations of steroid use as a major factor in their decision not to vote for Clemens.

Although Clemens was acquitted of charges related to his alleged steroid use in a 2012 trial, the allegations have continued to follow him.

Many baseball fans and analysts believe that Clemens’ statistics and achievements are tainted by the allegations, and this has affected his Hall of Fame candidacy.

Although he has not been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, Clemens was inducted into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2014 and was inducted into the Pawtucket Red Sox Hall of Fame on June 21, 2019.
