Pistorius ran in both non-disabled sprint events and sprint events for below-knee amputees. He was the 10th athlete to compete at both the Paralympic Games and Olympic Games.

At the 2011 World Cup Championships in Athletics, Pistorius was the first amputee to win a non-disabled world track medal. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he was the first double-leg amputee participant.

Oscar Pistorius will not be released early from a 13-year jail sentence, parole board decides. The Blade Runner athlete, who won gold at the London 2012 Paralympics, will be allowed to reapply for parole in August 2024.
