American author, Dr. Seuss was arguably the most loved children’s book author who faced heavy criticism over the years. He was removed for outdated and insensitive depictions of racial, ethnic, cultural, and gender differences.

Dr. Seuss made his debut publication in 1937, and as of 2023, some of his books have not really aged so well. His first children’s book, And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, was severely criticized because it features a crude racial stereotype of an Asian man with slanted lines for eyes. His estate announced that they would stop selling the book because the “egregious racial and ethnic stereotypes in the works are hurtful and wrong.”
