In a shocking turn of events, NBA G League basketball player Chance Comanche has found himself at the center of a criminal investigation, facing serious charges related to a murder plot.

The 27-year-old athlete, who was last associated with the Stockton Kings, has been charged alongside his girlfriend, Sakari Harnden, in connection with the disappearance and murder of 23-year-old Marayna Rodgers in Nevada.
The arrest took place on Friday, December 17, 2023, when Chance Comanche was taken into custody on a first-degree kidnapping charge. He was subsequently booked into the Sacramento County Jail in California.
Earlier in the week, on Wednesday, Sakari Harnden, 19, was arrested on a kidnapping charge and booked into the Clark County Detention Center in Nevada.
The investigation unfolded after Marayna Rodgers vanished on December 5, following an evening spent with friends and a meeting with Harnden, who had Comanche in tow. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police released a statement on X (formerly Twitter), revealing that Comanche and Harnden were “responsible for the murder” of Rodgers.

“Early in the investigation, detectives suspected foul play and obtained evidence to arrest Harnden and her boyfriend Comanche for their role in the kidnapping and disappearance of Rodgers,” the police statement explained.
Subsequent to the arrests, detectives were able to locate human remains in a desert area in Henderson, Nevada. The Clark County Coroner later confirmed that these remains belonged to Marayna Rodgers, providing a grim confirmation of the tragic outcome of the investigation.
Chance Comanche is currently being held without bail, and his next court date is set for Wednesday, December 20, 2023. The severity of the charges and the details surrounding the case have sent shockwaves through the basketball community, leaving many in disbelief about the unexpected and tragic turn in the career of a once-prominent G League player.
