Around the early 2000s, Blackie Onassis was arrested for heroin possession, however, the charges were eventually dropped. During that moment, Kato released a solo disc that featured almost half of its songs co-opened with Onassis, while the band took a break. Roeser also returned to the band in 2005 and went on tour with the band, however, Onassis was omitted. Kato and Roeser eventually lost touch with Onassis and never returned to the limelight again.

Many people have expressed their condolences after the death was announced.
“RIP Blackie Onassis. I always enjoyed his bad faux drumming in this ala Keith Mon (also the last known footage of the old Coliseum). I think Jesus Lizard’s ‘Puss’ is about him, but RIP nonetheless,” McKie Show Lounge.
“Sorry to hear about the death of Urge Overkill drummer Blackie Onassis. I interviewed him and King Roeser when they played in London in 1991. The interview ended up in the first edition of our boilingly angry fanzine Moral Sense. He was a good fella,” Rocking Forster said.
