Why is Tori Bowie not competing?

United States Athlete, Tori Bowie’s fans and sports fanatics will not see her on the track again as she has been announced dead.

The Olympic Gold Medalist was found dead at her home in Florida. She died on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the age of 32. Her cause of death has not been disclosed yet.

“We’re devastated to share the very sad news that Tori Bowie has passed away. We’ve lost a client, dear friend, daughter, and sister. Tori was a champion… a beacon of light that shined so bright! We’re truly heartbroken and our prayers are with the family and friends,” her management said in an official statement.

Bowie won her first major medal at the World Athletic Championships in 2015; she won bronze in the 100m, before going to the Rio Olympics in 2016. In 2017, she participated in the World Championship in London and raced to a 100m victory. She won two Gold medals that year; in the 4x100m relay and 100m.

Former Great Britain Olympic athlete Jade Johnson expressed his condolences; “I’m completely IN SHOCK right now! Tori Bowie, one of the most talented athletes in the world, has passed away at the age of only 32 years old! I know that people die… But this just doesn’t feel right!?! She was SO young with SO much ahead of her?! Heartbreaking!
