At the time, he was ranked 73rd in the world prior to the Players Championship, and was the second-lowest ranked player to win the tournament, with 2002 winner Craig Perks ranked outside 200th before his win. Kim moved up to 28th in the world after the win.

His second win on the PGA Tour came at the 2017 Players Championship, beating Ian Poulter and Louis Oosthuizen by three-shots with a bogey-free 69 in his final round, becoming the second Korean to win the title after K. J. Choi in 2011.

Kim’s favorite putter is the Odyssey O-Works Prototype.

Why is Si Woo Kim not using a putter?

In April 2021, Kim had to do without his putter altogether for his final few holes.

Kim, who entered the Masters looking to claim his fourth PGA Tour victory, broke his putter in frustration after a chip on hole 15 rolled well beyond the pin and settled for putting with wood.

It followed a three-putt on hole 14.

Why was Si Woo Kim putting with a wood?

Kim revealed that he elected to use the 3-wood rather than blading a wedge because he felt he could control the speed better, especially on greens as fast as Augusta National’s.
