Pablo Picasso is known for being one of the best Spanish painters in history, if not the best. He was considered the god of Painting in the 20th Century, therefore, his artworks were purchased very highly. According to sources, his masterpieces are now in short supply, therefore, making them extremely expensive. Some of these paintings include paintings from his “Blue” and “Rose” periods, early Cubist works, and pieces that are intimately linked to his private life.

In 2015, Pablo Picasso’s 1955 masterpiece, Les Femmes d’Alger was considered the most expensive painting ever to sell at auction. The piece was sold for a little over $140 million. This comes shortly after Francis Bacon’s ‘Three Studies of Lucian Freud’ was sold for $142 million in 2013.
Picasso’s art is known for selling at higher prices, his artwork, Nude, Green Leaves, and Bust which was made in 1932 was sold in 2010 an an auction for $106.5 million, which at the time was the most expensive painting by a Spanish artist.
