Why is Jorginho rated so highly?

Jorginho is rated highly for many reasons. Jorginho is excellent at controlling and allows his teams to keep the ball.

Though very calm, Jorginho is known for his quick and accurate passing abilities. He finds good angles behind two more attacking-minded players. As a “deep-lying” type midfielder, he completed the most long balls for the European Champions with a 67 per cent long ball accuracy.

Regarding tackling, interceptions and passing, Jorginho does not perform unnecessary tricks or risky passes, he chooses the most efficient options available.

In the 2019 UEFA Super Cup against Liverpool on 14 August, Jorginho scored the equalising goal from the penalty spot in extra time an eventual 2–2 draw.

In the 2020–21 season, Jorginho scored Chelsea’s first goal of the season from the penalty spot in an eventual 3–1 league win against Brighton & Hove Albion on 14 September at Falmer Stadium.

On 30 October 2021, Jorginho became the first player in Premier League history to have 10 consecutive goals from the penalty spot after he converted a penalty in a 3–0 win away to Newcastle.
