Clare Balding was a prominent amateur flat jockey from 1988 to 1993. In 1990, she won the title of Champion Woman Rider. The National Book Prize for “Autobiography of the Year” was given to her memoir My Animals and Other Family in 2012, which details her experiences growing up in a racing yard.

Horse racing has played a vital role in Clare Balding’s career as a broadcaster. She now hosts Channel 4’s racing coverage.
In addition to several other athletic events, she has covered five Olympic Games.

The BBC has disclosed that Clare receives an annual salary of between £205,000 – £209,999.
She supplements her income with her work for BT and her several book agreements.
