In his 22 seasons in Major League Baseball, Barry Lamar Bonds played left field for the American national team.

Between 1993 and 2007, Bonds played for both the San Francisco Giants and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Among all-time great baseball players, he is regarded as one.

Even though Bonds’ game still had many shortcomings as a rookie with the Pirates in 1986, he quickly established himself as one of the young players to watch in the major leagues. As he only hit, his batting average was clearly his worst flaw.

Why is Barry Bonds not in HOF?

Bonds fell short of the 75 percent needed for enshrinement when results were announced Tuesday afternoon. He was listed on 66 percent of the ballots in his 10th and final year of eligibility.

Despite on-field accomplishments far exceeding the highest possible Hall of Fame standards, Bonds and Clemens were kept out of Cooperstown by performance-enhancing drug allegations.

Neither player ever tested positive for a banned substance nor was disciplined for banned substance use, though the rumors were rampant.
