The Ford Mustang is a series of American automobiles manufactured by Ford. In continuous production since 1964, the Mustang is currently the longest-produced Ford car nameplate. Currently in its seventh generation, it is the fifth-best selling Ford car nameplate. The namesake of the “pony car” automobile segment, the Mustang was developed as a highly styled line of sporty coupes and convertibles derived from existing model lines, initially distinguished by “long hood, short deck” proportions.

Why does the Mustang have a horse logo?
They decided on an iconically American design, picking Phillip Clark’s design. The horse’s head was originally going to face the viewer’s logo. Still, Ford’s executives later decided to put it in profile to represent the animal galloping on the track, and this was how they produced the final Ford Mustang logo.
Over the years, the Ford Mustang logo has seen various changes, one of which had the profile of a chess knight. Waino Kangas and Charles Keresztes, modelers for the design company, argued before deciding on the appropriate design and carving it onto the wood. The Mustang II prototype finally received the chrome pony symbol, which tied everything together with a flowing design that was richly detailed and colorful.
