Tessa Thompson once spoke in a British accent when she first visited England.

“I learned I was going to do ‘Thor’. I took on this English accent and when I was here, I would pretend to be British to get into the dialect”, she said.

Who Is Tessa Thompson?

Tessa Thompson is an American actress born on October 3, 1983,  in Los Angeles, California.

She spent her early years growing up in Los Angeles and Brooklyn, New York.

Thompson was schooled at Santa Monica High School, and Santa Monica College (SMC), where she graduated from the department of cultural anthropology.

Thompson began her acting career in high school, acting Shakespearean stage plays.

She later attended the Los Angeles Women’s Shakespeare Company, starring in The Tempest and Romeo and Juliet.

She came to fame in 2009 when she played a major role in the film Mississippi Damned and Tyler Perry’s For Colored Girls (2010).

She gained international recognition with the comedy-drama Dear White People (2014), and the historical drama Selma (2014).

Other movies she appeared in include Creed (2015), Creed II (2018), and Creed III (2023), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Sorry to Bother You (2018), Little Woods (2018),  Annihilation (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), Men in Black: International (2019), Sylvie’s Love (2020), Passing (2021). and Thor: Love and Thunder (2022).

Thompson has also won several awards and nominations, including the British Academy Film Award, Primetime Emmy Award and a BAFTA Rising Star Award nomination.
