Why did Thandie Newton leave Magic Mike?

Thandiwe Newton will no longer co-star in Magic Mike’s Last Dance with Channing Tatum. She, however, maintains that her departure was not caused by an apparent argument with Tatum, who acts in and produces the film.

Salma Hayek was confirmed on Wednesday as the new female lead in the third Magic Mike film, replacing Newton. “Thandiwe Newton has made the painful decision to step away from the production of Warner Bros. Pictures’ Magic Mike’s Last Dance to deal with family problems,” a Warner Bros. spokeswoman stated.

The “Westworld” actress was in London filming the third part of the series, “Magic Mike’s Last Dance,” with Channing Tatum when crew members became concerned about her health.

Her agent flew in from Los Angeles to try to mediate, but the 49-year-old “Westworld” actress was transported back to the United States on Tuesday to presumably check into a facility.

According to multiple sources, Newton has been dealing with emotional and family issues since her divorce from her husband of 24 years, Ol Parker, with whom she has three children.
