Why did Russell Howard leave the BBC?

Russell Howard is a British comedian, television host, radio host, and actor. Russell was commissioned by BBC Three to create a comedy show aimed at under-25s called Russell Howard’s Good News. However, he left the show.

He has since explained that he left the show because he finds radio “really restrictive” and that “as a performer, I gorge off the audience, but you can’t gauge a reaction on the radio.”

Russell Howard is best known for his television show Russell Howard’s Good News, which he currently hosts, as well as his appearances on the topical panel show Mock the Week.

Russell Howard was nominated for an Edinburgh Comedy Award for his 2006 Aberdeen Festival Fringe show and won “Best Compère” at the 2006 Chortle Awards. Howard’s influences include comedians Lee Evans, Richard Pryor, and Frank Skinner.
