Why did Rene Russo stop acting?

Rene Russo is an accomplished actress who has been active in the entertainment industry for several decades.

She has appeared in a number of critically acclaimed movies, including “Lethal Weapon 3,” “Get Shorty,” and “The Thomas Crown Affair,” among others.

However, in 2005, Rene Russo took a five-year hiatus from acting, opting to focus on her health and personal life.

After being persuaded by director Kenneth Branagh in December 2009 to play Frigga, the mother of the titular hero, Russo returned to the screen in the superhero film Thor, which was released in 2011.

However, most of her scenes were cut during the editing process. In Thor: The Dark World, she had more screen time (2013).

Since returning to acting in 2011, Rene Russo has appeared in movies including the crime thriller Nightcrawler, written and directed by her husband Dan Gilroy, and the independent comedy Frank and Cindy (2015), based on the 2007 documentary of the same name.

In 2015  she starred in the comedy The Intern, directed by Nancy Meyers. The New York Post and The Washington Post found her to be a highlight in her role, and the film grossed US$194.6 million globally.
