Phil Donahue retired from his show “The Phil Donahue Show” in 1996 after 29 years on the air. After retiring, he hosted a talk show on MSNBC from July 2002 to March 2003.

His shows frequently addressed issues that divide liberals and conservatives in the United States, such as abortion, consumer protection, civil rights, and war.

Since retiring, he has made occasional appearances on television, including as a guest on other talk shows and as a commentator on news programs. Donahue is now in his 80s and is likely enjoying his retirement.

Phillip  Donahue is regarded as the “king of daytime talk” and is one of the most influential talk show hosts. Oprah Winfrey has said, “If it weren’t for Phil Donahue, there would never have been an Oprah Show.

Phillip  Donahue was ranked #42 on TV Guide’s list of the 50 Greatest TV Stars of All Time in 1996.
