Why did Narcos get Cancelled?

Narcos came to an end after 6 seasons and two decades of a story revolving around notorious drug kingpins of Mexico.  The final season aired in November 2021.

Carlo Bernard, the show’s co-creator, revealed the true reason for the show’s cancellation in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

“For me, bringing the show up to that point where we now recognise, for better or worse, made sense as a place to stop it.” The show has been able to pull back the curtain and show you how this thing started and evolved.”

He stated that “stopping at the moment where we had delivered the world that we now live in today made sense, thematically and narratively,” because he did not want the narrative to be repetitive, despite how riveting it would be. We certainly don’t want to repeat ourselves.”

Bernard, on the other hand, mentioned the possibility of a new series in an interview with Collider. “There aren’t any plans, honestly; this is the end of the ride, for the time being,” he admitted.
