In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Penix stated that he entered the transfer portal because he wanted to continue his collegiate career following his myriad of injuries.
Penix was attracted to the Pacific Northwest because he had worked with Kalen DeBoer, the current head coach of the Washington Huskies, during his time at Indiana. Since joining Washington, Penix has established himself as one of the game’s top quarterbacks, with a PFF grade of 84.4/100 and a 40 time of 4.38 seconds.
