Randy Meisner, one of The Eagles’ original members, has passed away. The bassist and vocalist, who co-wrote and performed “Take It to the Limit,” was 77 years old.

The band revealed Thursday that Meisner passed away on Wednesday night as a result of complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Meisner reportedly was not invited to the 1994 Eagles reunion. In addition to being invited to join the band’s 2013 world tour, he did perform with them in 1998 at their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Due to his failing health, he stayed home. According to Meisner, the band assisted with his medical expenses in 2016.
Just a few weeks after the remaining Eagles members declared they would be going on one final tour, Meisner passed away.

Why did Meisner quit the Eagles?
Meisner left the band due to tiredness, as was revealed after the Hotel California tour concluded in early 1978. He subsequently reflected, “Those last days on the road were the worst.” I was expelled from the band I helped found”.
Who replaced Randy Meisner?
Meisner left the Eagles after six years, citing exhaustion, after a fight over his refusal to perform the song live during an extended encore at a show in Knoxville. Timothy B Schmit took his place.
