Why did Man City fire Mancini?

The move comes after the club suffered a brutal run of Champions League form earlier in the campaign. City didn’t win a single match and finished in the Group D basement. It was the complete opposite of what supporters expected after entering as one of the favorites.

When did Roberto Mancini manage Man City?

On 19 December 2009, Mancini was publicly revealed to be taking over as manager of Manchester City on a three-and-a-half-year deal following the sacking of Mark Hughes. With wealthy Emirati owners who were willing to invest heavily in the team, Manchester City had become a club expectant of success.

The sacking was down to a lack of progress on the field, but chief executive Ferran Soriano also admitted that Mancini’s poor relationships with some players and staff had been a factor.
