Karl Lagerfeld was a high profile fashion designer, creative director, artist and photographer.

Born on September 19, 1933, in Hamburg, Germany, Lagerfeld was famous for being the creative director of the French fashion house Chanel from 1983 to 2019.

He also doubled as creative director of the Italian fur and leather goods fashion house Fendi.

Lagerfeld, though owned his own fashion label, still worked on a variety of fashion projects with notable brands such as Givenchy and Balenciaga.

Lagerfeld’s journey to fame began in 1954, when he showcased a dress design to the International Wool Secretariat’s design competition.

Lagerfeld was nicknamed “the Chameleon of fashion”, because he was able to raise the stake of modern say fashion.

Lagerfeld received the Outstanding Achievement Award in 2015, at the British Fashion Awards.

His final Chanel collection created before his death had “an Alpine theme of après-ski clothing.”

Lagerfeld passed away on February 19, 2019, after suffering complications resulting from pancreatic cancer.

He was aged 85.

Lagerfeld had been admitted at the American Hospital of Paris in Parisian suburb Neuilly-sur-Seine before he passed on.
