Why did Justyn Ross not get drafted?

Justyn Ross is an American football wide receiver who was not selected during the 2022 NFL Draft.

Justyn Ross’s medical history was the primary reason he was not selected during the 2022 NFL Draft. Ross learned in the spring of 2020 that he had a previously undetected congenital fusion in his spine, which threatened to end his career after his freshman year at Clemson.

Justyn Ross underwent surgery to repair a bulging disc, underwent extensive rehabilitation, and had to wait a year and a half to return to the field. Ross suffered another injury as a junior last season.

“I played through a broken foot last year,” Ross said. “It was frustrating, but I haven’t really had stuff easy for me. I’ve had to push through a lot of stuff.”

A secondary reason Ross was not drafted is that he missed Clemson’s final three games due to a foot injury.

Justyn Ross didn’t have enough time to train and go through predraft drills while recovering from surgery to repair the stress fracture. At Clemson’s pro day, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.63 seconds.

Although he went undrafted, he signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent on May 7, 2022.
