For 24 years, Elisabeth languished in captivity, subjected to repeated abuse and manipulation at the hands of her father. Forced to write letters to her family, falsely claiming she had joined a cult, Elisabeth lived in perpetual fear, her cries for help stifled by the walls of her prison.
Tragically, Elisabeth bore the brunt of Fritzl’s depravity, giving birth to seven children fathered by her own father during her years of captivity. One of these infants tragically perished, his young life extinguished by Fritzl’s callous disregard.
