American actress, Elizabeth Hubbard played the role of Althea Davis on the popular soap opera The Doctors, however, she left the show in 1999 “due to a disagreement over the character’s direction.”

According to sources, she was persuaded to come back after several months by the new Executive Producer of the show. In 2005, she featured in a unique storyline when her character was diagnosed with cancer.
Unfortunately, the actress herself lost her life in real life due to cancer. She was 89 years old at the time of death. Her son, Jeremy announced that she died on April 9, 2023.

She started her career professionally on the Guiding Light on CBS in 1962 when it was live for a little over 10 minutes.

“I replaced some actress who had flipped her lid. They just needed somebody to round out the week, but then they kept me, and the rest is history,” she recalled during an interview.
Tributes have been pouring in on social media after the news of her death broke out.
“RIP Emmy winner Elizabeth Hubbard. A magnificent star whose work was so grand and impulsive and unruly that each performance felt like an unauthorized event. Althea Davis on The Doctors. Lucinda Walsh on As The World Turns. An incalculable loss to the acting profession,” Michael Logan wrote.
“It is with great sadness that I share the news that the legendary Elizabeth Hubbard passed away over the weekend. You will be missed dearly, Liz. Rest in peace! Liz’s son Jeremy shared the news earlier today. Keep him, their family, and Martha Byrne in your thoughts and prayers,” Host of Locher room, Alan Locher said
