Diana Ross left the group in 1970 because she and Berry Gordy felt she had outgrown them and was ready to start a solo career. She was replaced by Cindy Birdsong.
Diana Ross’s eponymous debut solo album featured the U.S. number-one hit “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and the music anthem “Reach Out and Touch (Somebody’s Hand)”.
