Rick Pitino was fired on October 16, 2017, by the University of Louisville as a result of a bribery scandal involving Adidas, assistant coaches Jordan Fair and Kenny Johnson, and former player Brian Bowen II.
Pitino led the Louisville Cardinals to their third National Championship in 2013, defeating Michigan 82-76 to become the first NCAA Division I coach to win a championship with two different schools.
