Stores in the United States have suffered an increased shortage in supply of baby formula since the outbreak of COVID-19.

The shortages are as a result of supply chain issues, a shut down of a major production plant, and the recent voluntary recall of certain baby formula products over possibility of contamination.

Why Is There No Formula On The Shelves?

In February, Abbott Laboratories, manufacturer of popular baby formulas, shut down its facility in Sturgis, Michigan, following a recall of its infant formula products.

This was during a federal investigation that began after two babies died of bacterial infections after consuming the product.

Abbott had denied the link between its formula product and the incidence.

Some members of the public have blamed the shortage on the Biden administration for delivering baby formula to illegal immigrants.

President Biden has assured all households of the government’s effort to ensure that manufacturers increase production of formula.

Experts have advised that parents who can’t find their baby formular brand in the market, should switch to any F.D.A.-approved baby formula available at any reputable pharmacy or supermarket.
