Moran studied at London’s Royal College of Music before working as a session musician, composer, and arranger. Mike Moran is a composer with a lot of experience and versatility.

He has received a Gold Badge from The British Academy of Songwriters and Composers for services to British music, a TRIC Award for his music for Taggart, and is currently a Professor of Piano Jazz at London’s Royal College of Music, where he was a student.

New Tricks is a British television crime drama created by Nigel McCrery and Roy Mitchell and broadcast on BBC One. It was primarily produced by Wall to Wall until its final year when it was handled by Headstrong Pictures.

The series is about The Unsolved Crime and Open Case Squad (UCOS)  a fictional division of the Metropolitan Police Service in London tasked with re-investigating unsolved crimes. UCOS was primarily run by a senior police detective who oversaw the work of three retired cops who handled each case and could call in backup if necessary.
