About The Coronation of Charles III and Camilla

On May 6, 2023, Charles III and his wife, Camilla, will be crowned king and queen of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.

Charles had acceded to the throne since 8 September 2022, following the death of his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The coronation of Charles III will begin with a procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey, where the event will take place.

Charles will be anointed, will be given the coronation regalia, and crowned. Representatives of the Church of England and royal family will be declaring their allegiance to him.

After the coronation, there will also be a procession back to Buckingham Palace, the King and Queen are expected to appear “on the palace balcony for a flypast by the Royal Air Force.”

About 2200 guests from 203 countries have been invited for the ceremony.

There will be street parties, and a Coronation Concert on 7 May at Windsor Castle, for the general public.

The entire events will be broadcast on TV and streamed online, and coronation medals will also be distributed in the UK and Canada.

Charles and Camilla’s coronation will be the 40th to be held at Westminster Abbey since 1066.
