Who was Shelley Smith? American Fashion Model Dead at 70

Shelley Smith was an American fashion model who made her acting debut in 1979 in an NBC telefilm about cosmetic surgery dubbed Mirror, Mirror.  She also went on to appear in a movie titled The Associates. Some of her other movies also include Fantasy Island, Hotel, The Love Boat, Murder, She Wrote, Hunter, Magnum P. I, Simon and Simon, and more.

She died on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, while she was in a coma after experiencing cardiac arrest three days earlier, and her health has deteriorated in the past year.

Smith’s death was announced by her husband Michael Maguire who also shared a heartfelt tribute post.

“When she wanted to have children and was having a hard time herself, she went through the process and discovered in vitro fertilization and saw what was wrong with the industry … and started her own company. She helped thousands and thousands of people have babies. It was so sweet, and she got to relive her own struggles and help other people avoid those struggles. It was beautiful to watch,” he said.
