Shannon Wilcox, born as Mary Kay Wilcox in Ohio, grew up on a farm in Indiana, sharing her childhood with her siblings, Bob, Caudie, and Janny. She embarked on her educational journey in Boulder, Colorado, attending both high school and college before following her dreams to Paris, where she pursued a career in dance. Ultimately, she found her true calling in Los Angeles, where she began her remarkable journey as an actress.

Wilcox marked her onscreen debut in 1976 with a memorable appearance in an episode of “Starsky & Hutch.” Her early career included roles in popular television shows like “Kaz,” “Hawaii Five-O,” “Family,” and “Hart to Hart.” However, it was in the world of cinema that she made her breakthrough, landing her first movie role in the Mac Davis-starring “Cheaper to Keep Her” (1980).
In 1981, Shannon Wilcox earned a place among the first group of actors and filmmakers personally invited by the esteemed Sydney Pollack to study at the Sundance Institute, showcasing her dedication to honing her craft.
One of her significant roles was in the 1987-88 ABC drama series “Buck James,” where she portrayed the ex-wife of a Texas surgeon, portrayed by Dennis Weaver.
