Former NFL quarterback, Ryan Mallett has died after drowning at the beach in Florida. His death occurred on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. He was 35.

“Responders were called to a beach in Destin, Florida, around 2:12 p.m. local time, as a group of people swimming in the Gulf of Mexico near sandbar struggled to make their way back to shore. One of the individuals who was not breathing was identified as Ryan Mallett. He was pronounced dead after getting to a nearby hospital,” reports shared.

Mallett was drafted by New England Patriots in the 2011 NFL Drafts. He made his preseason debut in the Patriots’ first preseason game, a 47-12 rout of the Jacksonville Jaguars on August 11 that same year.

After he retired from professional football, he was announced as an assistant coach at Mountain Home High School in Mountain Home, Arkansas, on April 16, 2020. He became the head football coach at White Hall High School in White Hall, Arkansas, in 2022.
