Olga Khokhlova

Olga Khokhlova was a ballet dancer in Russian ballet. She was the first wife of Pablo Picasso, one of his early artistic muses, and the mother of his son, Paulo.

She was born in the town of Nizhyn, Chernigov Governorate, Russian Empire on June 17, 1891, to father Stepan Khokhlov and mother Lydia Zinchenko.

Khokhlova married Picasso on July 12, 1918, at the Russian Orthodox Cathedral at the Rue Daru in Paris. Jean Cocteau and Max Jacob were witnesses to the marriage.

On February 4, 1921, Khokhlova gave birth to a boy named Paulo.

Khokhlova was legally married to Pablo till her death from cancer in Cannes, France, on 11 February 1955.

Jacqueline Roque

Jacqueline Roque was the muse and second wife of Pablo Picasso.

Pablo met Roque in the summer of 1952 while she was working at the Madoura Pottery. At the age of 25, she had taken the role of the salesperson in the company’s store, which was located near the entrance, where Picasso easily noticed her.

He romanced her by drawing a dove on her house in chalk and bringing her one rose a day until she agreed to date him.

Their marriage lasted 12 years until his death, during which time he created over 400 portraits of her, more than any of Picasso’s other loves.

Jacqueline Picasso never recovered from the death of her husband. She had been frequenting Picasso’s grave on the eighth of every month and said that he wanted her to join him. She shot herself on 15 October 1986 in their Mougins home, the chateau where they had spent their married life together.
