Nitin Chandrakant Desai was a Bollywood production director who starred in his first film in 1993 titled Bhookamp, however, he became popular after starring in 1942: A Love Story in 1994. He went on to star in several other movies including Parinda, Khamoshi, Maachis, Baadshah, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, Raju Chacha, Salaam Bombay! Amok, and more.

He committed suicide by hanging in Karjat, Maharashtra, on August 2, 2023. He was 57 years old at the time of death.
