Early Life
Morgan Spurlock was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and grew up in Beckley, West Virginia.
His mother, an English teacher and guidance counselor, and his father, who owned an auto repair shop, raised him as a Methodist.
Spurlock graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and then attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, earning a BFA in film in 1993.
Career
Spurlock’s career took off with the success of Super Size Me, a documentary that examined the health effects of consuming only McDonald’s food for 30 days.
The film was produced for $65,000 and grossed $22 million. It highlighted the dangers of fast food and sparked a global conversation about diet and health.

Beyond Super Size Me, Spurlock directed numerous other documentaries, including Where in the World Is Osama bin Laden?
