Police say Jones passed away Sunday afternoon due to those injuries.
Two others sustained injuries in the blaze.
Khane Jones, 28, who is also a long-time friend of the victim, has been charged with 1st Degree Arson and 1st Degree Assault.
Detective Lieutenant Joe Donoghue says those charges could be upgraded, but police have to talk it over with the district attorney first.
The resulting fire destroyed the Winslow Street apartment and sent Joshua’s mother and uncle, Tina M., and John M. Guildoo, to hospital for treatment for burns and inhalation of smoke.
Since his arrest in February, Khane Jones has been held in the Jefferson County jail, where he remained on Sunday. He is awaiting trial for the charges.
