Hugh Segal was a former Canadian political executive who was just 21 years old when he ran as a Progressive Conservative candidate in Ottawa Centre for the House of Commons of Canada in the 1972 general election, however, he was not successful. He was defeated again in 1974.

He was a senior aide to Ontario Progressive Conservative Premier Bill Davis in the 1970s and 1980s, and he was named Deputy Minister when he was 29.

Segal was appointed to the Senate of Canada by Liberal Prime Minister Paul Martin. In the 1980s and 1990s, Segal became a television pundit and newspaper columnist. He was appointed to the Commonwealth Eminent Person Group by Secretary General Kamalesh Sharma.
He died on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at the age of 72. No cause of death was announced. He was survived by his wife, Donna Armstrong Sega, a former Ontario Ministry of Health executive, his wife, Jacqueline Segal, and his brother Brian Segal.
