Early Life and Career
Grayson Murray showed promise as a golfer from a young age. He won three consecutive Callaway Junior Championships and was the top-ranked golfer nationally in his age group.
During high school, he competed for Leesville Road High School, winning both team and individual state titles.
Murray attended multiple universities, including Wake Forest University, East Carolina University, and Arizona State University. He played in the 2013 U.S. Open as an amateur, marking an early highlight in his career.

On January 14, 2024, Murray won his second PGA Tour event, the Sony Open in Hawaii, after a playoff victory.

Grayson Murray was a Christian and often credited his faith for his success.
After winning the Sony Open, he remarked, “Jesus Christ is first and foremost. Without him, none of this would be possible. And he’s just given me a platform to write a new story. To write my own story. And I hope that everyone at home watching can get a little inspiration from me.”
In October 2022, Murray was involved in a severe scooter crash in Bermuda, which caused him to withdraw from the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. Despite his successes, Murray battled with depression and alcohol abuse throughout his life.
Grayson Murray died on May 25, 2024, at the age of 30. He had withdrawn from the Charles Schwab Challenge the day before, citing an illness. His struggles with mental health and substance abuse were ongoing challenges in his life.
