Who was George Riddle? Onion News Network Actor Dead at 86

Famous actor, George Riddle has been reported dead at age 86. One of his most notable works was on The Onion News Network, where he gained a good number of fans with his turn as the irascible, wildly opinionated Cressbeckler, whose predictions and political analysis were peppered with malapropisms and non sequiturs.

He died of duodenal cancer in North Plainfield, New Jersey, on Friday, June 2, 2023. He was a member of The Magic Castle in Hollywood, raked in a collection of theater and film memorabilia in his East Village penthouse apartment, and loved cars and motorcycles.

Riddle made appearances in numerous movies and tv shows such as The Fantasticks, Arthur, The Innkeepers, The Kitchen, The Sopranos, Inside Amy Schumer, The Trial of Standing Bar, and more.

“RIP George Riddle who played Walter in S6 E15 ‘Remember When.’ Us fans will always recognize EVERY contribution to this great show, no matter how big or small,” The Soprano Club shared.
