Ed Winter was the Deputy L.A. County Coroner who handled the death cases into some of the biggest celebrities in Hollywood.

Winter spent 17 years in the field, investigating the deaths of celebrities such as Michael Jackson, Paul Walker, Whitney Houston, Brittany Murphy, and Tom Petty.

Winter’s first case as a coroner was the death of actress and model Lana Clarkson in February 2003.

Ed Winter grew concerned when he observed an astonishing number of injection sites in Jackson’s body.

Ed Winter was asked to investigate Whitney Houston’s death in 2012, just seconds before Clive Davis’s pre-Grammy party, following his success in the Michael Jackson investigation.

Ed Winter was nicknamed “Coroner to the Stars” for his high-profile cases. In the early 2000s, he joined the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

Ed Winter, 73, passed away of natural causes at his home in the LA area on Friday, March 17, 2023.
